April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is among the few female players of beach volleyball who have achieved this feat. Alix-Klineman will be competing with April Ross Tokyo for her third gold medal over the next few days. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. In fact, at 39, this could be her final chance to do so. But she's still convinced of winning top awards. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well they could win a gold. It's also going to be an issue of luck. Ross, who was born 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started competing in the sports of Newport Harbor High School. Along with playing in numerous sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball along with basketball, running and track. In her final game, she clearly stood out. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter in the court for volleyball as per her bio at the college. As a tribute to her efforts, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. Additionally, in 2000, she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do since 2017. However, Ross was an important player on the beach volleyball circuit before the pairing. The fact is, she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments as well as one of her partners was a volleyball superstar. From 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Kessy and Ross were strong on the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship with each other. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team which took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, took their opponents to claim the gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. Both went on to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before the start of her professional career. She played during high school, and even some years before she hit the beaches as a professional. Her time at the school was an impressive one. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four with her help. In her sophomore season she suffered a devastating personal loss and still earned the distinction of being an All-American. In her final two seasons with the Trojans, she helped them win consecutive championships. As an individual, she established her place as a legend winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter achieve the heights of beach volleyball. In 2001 when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother died of breast cancer. In the aftermath, Ross is still near to her mother who passed away. Margie is an inspiration both on and off at the beach.
